Smiling Kids

Our Services & Treatments

Cleanings, Exams & More!

In order to make tiny teeth, shiny teeth, it’s imperative that each child AND parent knows what needs to be done for proper preventative care to avoid cavities and other restorative treatments.  We focus our efforts on educating the child on proper brushing techniques, flossing practices as well as what foods to avoid.  Furthermore, we provide the latest and best pediatric treatments & exams during every bi-annual visit to maintain your child’s healthy smile, remove plaque and to prevent decay.

What’s provided during each visit:

    – Full Cleaning and Exams – We follow the guidelines of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry

    – Digital X-Rays (as needed)

    – Fluoride Treatments – Keep their teeth STRONG! Our office uses fluoride varnish, which sticks to their teeth limiting oral ingestion.

    – Sealants – Keep their teeth shiny & protected!

    – A Free Toothbrush, Floss, and of course, a Balloon!

Restorative Dentistry

It is very important to maintain the health of “baby teeth.” Neglected cavities can, and frequently do, lead to problems which affect developing permanent teeth. Primary teeth (baby teeth) are important for chewing, speech, providing space for the permanent teeth and permitting normal development of the jaw bones and muscles. Dr. Adam typically uses a very conservative approach when addressing decay on baby teeth, but is happy to explain when a cavity becomes large enough that it needs to be fixed.

If your child needs a filling, DON’T PANIC!! Dr. Adam’s recommendation in preparing your child for a restorative appointment is this:  Less is more.

Allow us to explain everything to your child once you arrive. Sometimes even the most well-intentioned explanation can leave a child feeling confused, anxious and result in them having many more questions! Dr. Adam talks about these procedures thousands of times every year and knows how to handle ALL the questions. The best response to questions at home is…. “I’m not sure. Let’s ask the dentist when we get there!”

Dr. Adam only uses composite or ceramic materials for fillings.  he does not use amalgam (also known as silver mercury fillings).

Silver Diamine Fluoride (SDF) is a service that we offer, and maybe an option to treat decay in some of our “pre-cooperative” patients.

X-Rays & Radiographs

Radiographs (X-Rays) are an important part of your child’s dental diagnostic process. Radiographs allow Dr. Adam to diagnose and treat conditions in bone and cavities between teeth that may not be detected during a clinical examination. They are also important in situations where there has been trauma to the teeth and/or bone and in planning orthodontic treatment.

At Seacoast Children’s Dentistry, we use the latest advances in dental technology including digital radiography, which reduces radiation exposure by up to 90%. We also use paperless technology software that allows us to receive x-ray films via email from a referring dentist, minimizing the need for re-exposure. If you have questions about radiographs, please ask Dr. Adam. He is happy to discuss your child’s specific needs as they relate to dental radiographs.

Special Needs Patients

We provide pediatric dental services to children of all ages and we also specialize in helping special needs patients.  We want every child to feel welcome in our office and we are committed to making your special needs patient experience enjoyable for him/her and the whole family!

Frenectomies

Some children are born with a short lip or tongue frenum, which is the piece of tissue that holds the tongue to the bottom of the mouth and the lip to the gums. These can sometimes cause issues with feeding, swallowing, speech and tooth alignment and decay. Dr. Adam specializes in laser tongue and lip tie release procedures (also known as a frenectomy).  Our state of the art CO2 laser helps make the procedure simple and stress-free.

Our post-surgical suite provides a quiet and comfortable place for the parent and child to relax and recover in after the procedure.
